KAYSVILLE a€" Mitzie Wahlen Peterson, our loving and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, returned to her Father in Heaven the morning of March 4, 2010 in Kaysville, Utah. Mitzie was born on November 28, 1932 to Arvid and LaVern Wahlen. She was the third of six children and graduated from West High School where she was active in many sports, especially basketball. Mitzie studied geology and worked with geologists for several years. She learned much in that science, which developed into a hobby that she enjoyed for the rest of her life.

Mitzie married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 10, 1956 to Carl R. Peterson and was a loving mother to eight children. She had a tremendous love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a powerful testimony that she shared often. Mitzie loved everything good in life: nature, sports, art, dance, opera, literature classical music, but most of all she loved her children, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mitzie will be remembered for many wonderful things, but the greatest legacy she leaves behind is that of tremendous love and compassion. She was a great influence for good. Mitzie was always thoughtful of others and put their needs before her own.

She is survived by seven of her children: Christy, Carl, Adam (Sonya), David (Jennifer), Rachel (Stephen), Curt (Susan), Sean (Lisa); 37 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mitzie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sandra, and her daughter Mitzie.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 2nd Ward Chapel, 500 S. Main St. where a viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Arrangements under the direction of Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 S. Main.
