Monroe Lloyd Ostler passed away in the early hours of May 5, 2018 at the age of 83.
He was born September 17, 1934 to William (Bill) Jonathan and Ruth Lloyd Ostler. He grew up in Roosevelt, Utah. He attended Union High School, Weber College, and served Honorable for two years in the United States Marine Corp.
He married Janet Kaye Hadley in the Logan LDS Temple on February 8, 1957. They resided in Clearfield, Utah where they raised their 6 children. Later they moved to Syracuse, Utah.
Lloyd was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings in the Stake High Council assigned to the sports, 17 years as the Stake Athletic Director, Stake activities chairman, Bishopric, and as Bishop. He also served for many years with his wife at the Ogden, Idaho Falls, and Rexburg Temples.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew. He is survived by his brothers: Devere (Sally) Ostler, Gene (Bonnie) Ostler, John (Lori) Ostler; children: Sandra (Dennis) Hooper, Greg (Darcy) Ostler, Garrett (Jan) Ostler, Kristin (Gary) Percival, Heather (Nick) Garlick, Sky (Ryan) Thirkill; 21 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
