Monette Roe Pratt, our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother joined her sweetheart, Harold, in heaven just in time to celebrate his birthday together after being apart 15 years. She was born on September 18, 1933, at home in Stone, Idaho. She passed away January 18, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Syracuse. Her parents were William Ray Roe and Lola Pack Roe. Her mother was 44 when she was born. Monette lived all her early life in Stone. She was a strawberry blonde in her younger years. She graduated from Bear River High School.
She dated Harold Anderson Pratt after he returned from the Northwestern States Mission. He was also from Stone and eight years her senior. They were married in the Logan Utah Temple on September 12, 1951.
They bought a home and a farm in Stone, Idaho and farmed 240 acres. Their first 5 children were born while they lived there. They sold off 40 acres at a time until they sold their home and the final 90 acres for $13,000 and moved to Clearfield, Utah where 2 more children were added to their family. Then they moved to Syracuse, Utah in 1965 in the only subdivision at that time and where their last child was born. Monette lived in that home 58 years.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in Primary, and as a Relief Society and a Primary President. She and Harold served a mission to the Kentucky Louisville Mission and served the entire time in the Cincinnati inner city.
Monette was an accomplished seamstress. She made clothes for herself, her children and sewed for other people. She also sewed for Consolidated Drapery and was a Rural Postal Carrier for 15 years. She made quilts and crocheted doilies, and over 100 Afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She sewed her own wedding dress.
Monette was a master gardener raising a large vegetable garden, fruit trees, grapes and raspberries. She bottled and froze the produce to feed her large family. One year she canned 1000 quarts of fruit and vegetables. Anything she didn’t need from her garden she took to her neighbors. She also had a beautiful yard full of flowers, bushes, and trees. She would take bouquets of flowers to church every Sunday during the flowering season and would give them to Ward members to take home after the meetings were over. She shared flower starts with anyone who wanted them. She made 4 loaves of homemade bread every week for many years.
She is survived by her children Jeanette (Kevin) Porter, Debra Danner, Rodney (Ann) Pratt, Luana (Donald) Slater, Lowell (Lesley) Pratt, Dewey (Donna) Pratt, Lesle (Karl) Anderson, and Allyson Pratt. She has 24 grandchildren and 73 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren.
