Monique Nöel Greenwell Penman

December 15, 1967 ~ May 13, 2015

Monique Greenwell Penman, 47, of Ogden, UT, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 of complications due to pneumonia.  Her husband and parents were with her at the time of her death.  Monique was born in St. Benedict's Hospital in Ogden on December 15, 1967 to Scott L. and Deborah A. Pommer Greenwell.  She attended schools in Lincoln, NE, and North Ogden, graduating from Weber High School in 1986.  She was an honor student throughout junior and senior high school, and was a member of the National Honor Society.  She was also a letter of commendation recipient from the National Merit Scholarship Program and was recognized for her Outstanding Academic Achievement by the Presidential Academic Fitness Program.  She subsequently attended Utah State University on an Academic Scholarship.  Monique received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BA) in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Utah State in 1989.  She also earned a second degree, a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Elementary Education, from Weber State University in 1996.

Monique married Ryan L. Penman on January 26, 2005 in Ogden.  She was a dedicated supervisor at the Internal Revenue Service--where she worked for over 25 years--and took great pride in her career and spoke highly of her colleagues.  Monique's creative talents and keen intellect became evident at a very early age, but she was best known for her kind and gentle heart and sweet disposition.  In her spare time, Monique enjoyed reading, going to movies--especially classic films and documentaries--crocheting and cross stitching, decorating, and traveling.  Monique never tired of Disneyland and her favorite place to visit was Paris, France.  But most of all she cherished the time she spent with her young son and husband--the absolute loves of her life.  Monique was also very fond of animals and doted on her many pets over the years, especially her precious pug, Sir Winston.

Monique is survived by her sister, Andréa (Aaron) Prevo; her brother, Chandler; four nieces, her parents, Scott and Deborah; her son, McKane; stepchildren, Talon and Jayden Penman; and her loving husband, Ryan, all of Ogden.  She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Linda Penman of Layton, along with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at Elim Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St., Ogden on Friday, May 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m.  Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Monique's life following the ceremony.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

The entire family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of affection and sympathy during this difficult time.
