Monte Shane McCloy beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend has unexpectedly passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021. He was born to Keith Bowman and Judith Vaughan McCloy on August 12, 1975 in Ogden, Utah. Monte grew up in Hooper and Riverdale, Utah alongside four sisters and two brothers. Throughout his life he was known as Monkey Shine, Monkey, Munk, Mont and Papa.
He graduated from Bonneville High School and worked various jobs. His favorite being a disability coach at Enable Utah where he met the love of his life Tammy Mercer. They were later married on April 11, 2014 in Washington Terrace, Utah.
Monte faced many health challenges throughout his life and never once complained. He always had a smile on his face; once you met Monte you were a friend for life.
He loved animals, kids, reading, video games, camping, movies, being with family and friends but most of all he loved being Papa to his grandchildren.
Monte is survived by his sweetheart, Tammera Irene Mercer McCloy; daughters, Amanda (Jori) Blair and Misty (Eric) Shinsel; son, Matthew (Kenzie) Dawson; six amazing grandchildren with two more on the way; four sisters, Laurie (Steve) Carter, Leslie (Steve) Williams, Jamey McCloy, and Kimber McCloy; brother, Jeremy McCloy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Lucille Vaughan and Wilford and Emma McCloy; parents, Keith and Judie McCloy; brother, Keith McCloy; in-laws, Sharon and John Mercer; brother-in-law, Brad Mercer; nephew, Bryce Perea; and niece, Brandy McCloy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
