Monte Steven Stumpp
May 21, 1962 ~ March 9, 2016
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully March 9, 2016. Monte Steven Stumpp was born May 21, 1962 in Montpelier, Idaho to Steven Joseph Stumpp and Linda Wales. He grew up with a special relationship to his grandmother, Fay Olson who we are sure he has had an exciting reunion with beyond the veil. Steven loved camping, hunting, fishing and just being outdoors and in the mountains in general. He particularly enjoyed the time he spent hunting and fishing with his step-father Ron and he cherished the relationship he had with him. Afton, Wyoming had a special place in his heart, where he also spent much of his younger years. He had a great desire to return to Star Valley with plans to retire there. He would recall many experiences with his cousins in Star Valley, Wyoming and had fond memories of his relationships camping, fishing, and hanging out on Grandma Olson’s ranch. On September 16, 1983 Steven married Karla Lynn Kunz in Montpelier, later solemnized in the Logan Temple September 18, 1984. Their desire to be sealed in the temple on their first anniversary was delayed because of leap year.
In February 1985 Steven & Karla moved to Montrose, California. This is where he gained his skills in manufacturing maintenance. He had a natural ability to repair machinery, and found this very enjoyable and therapeutic. The success in his career led him to bring his family to Smithfield, Utah where he became employed with Cache Valley Cheese. Wanting to return to his roots he moved his family back to Montpelier in 1993, where he was employed by Kim-Ran Screw Company. He developed many long-lasting relationships with the “guys” that he worked with. In October 1998, Steven again relocated his family to West Haven, Utah where he would spend the remainder of his life. Steven worked for Kroger for the last 19 years with multiple job titles and responsibilities. He established many relationships with his co-workers and vendors, of whom he spoke fondly of. Steven was loved by all who knew him and had an association with.
Steven and Karla had four children and six grandchildren with one on the way. He loved being a grandfather, with his grandchildren being one of the highlights of his life.
Steven was preceded in death by his Grandpa Wales, Grandfather Hank Olson, Grandmother Fay Olson, and father-in-law Wayne Kunz. He is survived by his wife, Karla Stumpp, West Haven; his parents Ron and Linda Hymas of Montpelier; Steve and Frankie Stumpp of Evanston, Wyoming; siblings Danny (Gail) Stumpp, Kelly (Kristie) Stumpp, Shelly Phelps, and Jodi (Steve) Matthews; Children: Tabitha (Jamie) Ramboz of West Haven, Utah; Eric (Jeni) Stumpp of Milton, Wisconsin; Elliot (Shaina) Stumpp of Roy, Utah and McKenzie Stumpp of West Haven, and six (soon to be seven) grandchildren: Elias Ramboz, Jacob Ramboz, Joseph Ramboz, Noah Ramboz, Mia Ramboz, Emmett Stumpp with Macilyn Stumpp coming in April.
