Morgan Khleal Mifflin

January 13, 1936 ~ July 23, 2014

Morgan Khleal Mifflin, 78, passed away on July 23, 2014 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah following a stroke.

He was born January 13, 1936 in Malad, Idaho to William Morgan Mifflin and Gertrude Apgood Mifflin. Morgan grew up in Malad and attended Malad High School. He left school at a young age and joined the US Army to help support his family after the death of his father.

Following his military service, he moved to Ogden and worked at Albers Mill for over 10 years. He then began working as a building custodian for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1973 and retired in 1999 after 26 years of dedicated service.

Morgan met the love of his life, Judy Scothern, at a church dance, and they married in Tremonton, Utah in 1962. They were sealed for eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on December 10, 1964. Morgan and Judy were happily married for 36 years before her death in 1998.

Dad had many other loves, including trains, guns, and cars, but most of all people. He made friends everywhere he went, always trying to leave others with a smile on their face.

Morgan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy, parents, his step-father, Daniel Reed, parents-in-law, Oliver and Louania Scothern, brothers-in-law, Raymond Davis and Michael Scothern, sister-in-law, Francoise Mifflin, and a niece, Marinda Davis.

Morgan is survived by his daughter, Denise and her husband Michael Smith of North Ogden; four grandchildren that he adored, Taylor, Morgan, Carson and Ashton. Their lives have been filled with stories, sleep-overs and rides in Grandpa’s truck. Morgan also leaves behind a sister, Jean Davis of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Bart (Barbara) Mifflin of South Ogden; Max (Kaye) Mifflin of Kaysville; two-brothers-in-law, Bob (Diane) Scothern of West Jordan; Dick (Marcella) Scothern of Midway; and a sister-in-law, Roxanne Scothern of Hyrum. Morgan also leaves behind 25 nieces and nephews who truly love Uncle Morg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29th at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
