Morris Parker

KAYSVILLE – Morris Edward Parker, 72, died peacefully April 4, 2016, after a decades-long, on-and-off, uncomplaining battle with cancer.

Morris was born January 24, 1944, in rural, picturesque Mapleton, Utah, to Hartley and Tressa Parker.

Morris married Vickie Keel on December 28, 1962. They were later divorced. They had three children: Michelle, Phillip, and Robert.

Morris married Betty Jensen on February 18, 1982. Betty had two daughters, Tracie and Kerry Belt, from a previous marriage.

Morris founded and operated a successful business, Parker Painting, and was one of the best in his chosen profession. He had a true gift with the paint brush and an eye for color. Those who met him recognized what a good, honest, hardworking person he was.

Morris’ infectious passion and curiosity infused his life that was well lived. His many interests included exotic birds, in particular cockatoos and parrots, as well as rehabilitating birds for Tracy Aviary.  In fact, his passion got to the point where he and Betty had to impose a 24-hour waiting period before adding to their flock.

Morris also delighted in prospecting for gold, crystals, and fossils in Featherville, ID, Sardine Canyon, and Topaz Mountain. He loved being on the water whether in his boat, water skiing at Willard, fishing at Flaming Gorge or fly fishing the Green River.  He also enjoyed golfing, but stubbornly refused to walk a course, instead always riding in a cart because he could get more holes in that way.

Morris had a keen mind and was well known for his trivia knowledge on any given subject. People loved being in his company. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Morris is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Michelle (Kirk) Grim, son Robert; step-daughters, Tracie and Kerry; brothers William (Joyce), Steven, and Travis (Judy); and 3 grandchildren. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, son, Phillip; granddaughter Felicia; and brother, Thomas.
