Muaulu Peniata Sooaemalelagi
RIVERDALE a" Muaulu Peniata Sooaemalelagi was born March 26, 1930 in Mapusaga Tutuila American Samoa to Faofua Peniata and Tagisia Pulega Moto, returned home to his father in heaven on February 24, 2008.
He attended school in Samoa, graduating in 1950. He served four years in the US Marines.
He married Ruby May Robertson, March 15, 1959, in Torrance, California they were blessed with four children: Dana Peniata, Delaine Alvarez, Danny Peniata, David McKay Peniata (deceased). They were later divorced.
He then married Fua Leiataua, October 14, 1967 in Las Vegas Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized on May 2, 1971 in the Los Angeles Temple. They were blessed with five children: Elise Peniata, Leonard Peniata, Vincent Peniata, Miliama Jameriz, and Hughes Peniata, 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He worked for Pan American Airlines, Federal Hooper, and Tesco Williamson until he retired in 2003.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many callings including Boy Scout Leader, ward music director, choir member, counselor in the Sunday School, High Priest Group secretary, and a home teacher.
He is survived by his wife Fua Leiataua and their children, grandchildren and great-granchildren, his sisters, Fetuao Manai, Carson, CA; Tauave Leota, Layton,UT; Teleni Togisala, Riverdale,UT; Aniva Te''o, West Valley,UT; and his brothers Oscar Peniata, Chino, CA; and Kelly Peniata, Plymouth, Minnesota.
Also surviving are grandchildren and great-granchildren: Vanessa, Kianna, Madilynn, Brian, Andrea, Victory, Narrissu, Isaac, Aliesia, Aneva, Art, Celina, Vanessa, Amima, Danny Jr., Tyson, Joshua, Malia, Lorrine, Aivalu, Vincent, Kayla, Justin & Jessica.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 1st at 10 a.m. at the Riverdale 2nd Ward, 1175 West 5500 South in Riverdale.
Friends and family may call on Friday, February 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday morning at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
Interment at Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park Cemetery, 4500 Washington Blvd.
