September 10, 1933 — September 8, 2024

Murry Oscar Pierce, 90, a husband, father, grandpa, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend passed away at Fairfield Village Rehabilitation on September 8, 2024.

Murry (Oscar) was born on September 10,1933 in Wellington, Utah to his late parents Willard LeVar and Rosie Melinda Pierce. They later moved to Price, Utah and finally settled in Layton, Utah. He served two years in the United States Army stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, suffering significant hearing loss during his service. Following his military service, Murry worked at Hill Air Force Base for 36 years. He retired for less than two years and decided he needed to go back to work where he spent the next 20 years working for Davis County School District at Lincoln Elementary.

Murry met his wife, Yvonne, in 1956. They dated two weeks and were married March 31, 1956. They had three children, Kathy, David and Sandy. He was also the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He loved his family very much and watching his grandchildren play in his back yard always brought a smile to his face.

Murry was a hardworking man and at times would work 2 jobs making sure his family had what they needed. His family was so important that he would come home every night between jobs so he could have dinner with them around their kitchen table. Our Dad enjoyed hunting and riding motorcycles with his brothers in his early years, teasing and joking with his family, loved being outdoors camping and fishing, he was very skilled at working on cars and often repaired cars for family and friends.

Murry’s wife, Yvonne, of 68 years recently passed away on June 10, 2024. He is survived by his three children Kathy (Corry deceased) Sheffield, David (Charlotte) Pierce, and Sandy (John) Christensen. His seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
