Myrle Jane Wangsgard Homer

Myrle W. Homer Myrle Wangsgard Homer, 1920 – 2008: Myrle Ione Wangsgard Homer of Kaysville passed quietly in her sleep early Tuesday morning, November 25th, of natural causes. Born April 9, 1920, Myrle was the fourth of five children born to Louis Benjamin and Ida Ione Maughan Wangsgard. She attended Weber High School, and Utah State University where she met and married John Wendell Homer on September 27, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple. John and Myrle had an active religious, civic, and family life. Myrle served as Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, Young Women’s Sports Director, Relief Society President and in several other church callings. Her favorite calling was as the Relief Society Quilt chairman, in the Kaysville 9th Ward where the family lived for over 40 years. Myrle enjoyed the outdoors, hard work, sewing projects, quilt designs, birds, and wildflowers. John and Myrle were the proud parents of eight children. Myrle was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John; her sister Gay Doman, and brother Scott Wangsgard. She is survived by her brother, Robert Wangsgard, and sister, Karma Smith; eight children, Dixie Homer, John L. Homer (Ruth Ellen), Elsie Crocfer (Carl), Wendy Wood (Leslie), Karen Potter (Gary), Marva Sadler, MaryAnn Schill (Mike), and Lori Homer, as well as 34 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary 400 N. Main. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at the Logan City Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
