Myrtle E. Empey

OGDEN a€" Myrtle Edna Saunders Empey, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 in Ogden.

She was born January 8, 1916 in Harrisville, Utah, the 8th child of 10 children to George Martin and Mary Elizabeth Willey Saunders.

She married Lawrence Gerald Empey on August 21, 1937. He died May 31, 1995.

Myrtle worked for the school lunch program and The Bon Marche retiring in 1978.

Her hobbies were quilting, ceramics and cake decorating. She made many quilts, ceramics and cloth dolls. She volunteered at St. Benedict''s Hospital and Ogden Regional for 25 years a€" over 8000 hours retiring in 2003 at the age of 86.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Diane) Empey; Sharon Anderson; Georgia (Ed) Haynes; Marilyn Weller; Marianne (Chris) Lathrop; 16 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and six sisters.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 am.
