J. NaDene Jenkins

J. NaDene Jenkins passed away peacefully at the Huntsman Cancer Institute December 12, 2015, after a short battle with lymphoma.  Born in Salt Lake City on March 22, 1936 to Jamie Kinard and Mae  Lundberg, oldest of four children.  Graduated Davis High School in 1954 and Utah State University in 1975 with a B.A. in English Literature.

She met Ralph L. Kitchens at Hill Air Force Base where they were married on December 14, 1956.  Ralph’s career as an Air Force Pilot took them all over the country, as well as Germany.  They had three children Craig, Curt (Laura), and Connie. They were married for 22 years, later divorced; and were blessed with ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. NaDene married Seth L. Jenkins on Oct. 22, 1982 in the Logan LDS Temple.  They made their home in Idaho Falls together for twenty-one years, until Seth passed away.  Seth had three children, with fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  They loved to spend time at the family cabin in Island Park, Idaho.  She relished the time in the fresh air and mountains as much as her vacations to the ocean.  She taught Jr. High English in Idaho Falls for several years before they left in 1996 to serve an LDS mission to the Washington DC North Mission.  Their mission was some of the best times of her life.

Her greatest joy in life was being with her children and grandchildren, and loved being a grandma and great grandma!!  She took such care to remember each in their own special way. NaDene enjoyed many things in life, one of which was the love of dancing. Service brought her joy: Crisis Line volunteer in her younger years, an LDS Temple worker, reading tutor and LDS Church Service Missionary at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building .  She loved her Missionary calling and had many great friends and sweet experiences serving. NaDene will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who will remember her as a sweet, lovely and kind woman. Many thanks to the kind and compassionate care given at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.  She is preceded in death by sister Annabelle, her parents, both husbands, step daughter Judy, and daughter-in-law, Adare (Craig).  Survived by her three children, brother J. Spencer (Ann) Kinard and sister Lynette (Jerry) Smith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Dawson Hollow Ward, 2435 E. Canyon Rim Road, Layton.  Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Wednesday from 11:45 t0 12:45 p.m. at the church.

Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
