Nadine Petersen Brown, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, at the age of 66, in Bountiful, Utah, after a long battle with Early-Onset Alzheimer''s Disease. She left this life much too soon and will be greatly missed by all who loved her; but we are overjoyed that she has been reunited with her eternal companion, affectionately known to her as "Hubby", who passed away in 2004.
Nadine was born on December 5, 1946, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Mart Joseph and Mary Anderson Petersen. She was the only daughter with three brothers. Nadine graduated from Springville High School in 1965 and attended BYU. She married Ray Pitcher Brown on June 6, 1968. They were sealed in the Manti Utah Temple on May 3, 1969. Together they made their home in Bountiful, raising three daughters and one son.
Nadine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had an unwavering testimony of the gospel. She served faithfully in numerous callings including Relief Society president and ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple. She loved serving with the children and youth of the church. The gospel and her family were truly her passion. Nadine cherished her role as wife and mother; and although it was short, her time spent being a grandma was joyful. Most of her grandchildren only knew her after the disease had taken her from us years ago. She would have loved to be able to spoil them all!
Nadine was very talented and used her talents to make everything around her beautiful with her great attention to detail. She was an accomplished seamstress and could always be found redecorating her home and making things for others. Nadine was generous with her time, her talents, and her means. She absolutely loved to shop and would spend hours in search of the perfect gifts for family and friends. Her love and compassion were constant as she spent her life in the service of others.
Nadine loved music and enjoyed singing all her life. She loved animals, diet coke, ice cream, reading romance novels, going to Utah Jazz games, attending plays and concerts, get-togethers with her children and grandchildren every Monday, and traveling with her family. Mom and Dad were able to take many, many trips and see the world together.
We love and miss you, Mom! Until we meet again.
Nadine is survived by her daughters Lisa (ex-Michael) Gamble, Kaysville, Cindy (David) Simpson, Layton, Michelle (Ray) Solis, Magna; son Mikel (Jenny) Brown, Bountiful; brothers Garry (Carol) Petersen, Paul (Rosalind) Petersen, John (Lenore) Petersen; and 12 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and stepfather Darold Hiatt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at the North Canyon Ward Chapel, 2505 S. Davis Blvd. Bountiful. Friends may visit with the family Sunday 6-8 p.m.at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary 727 N. 400 E. and on Monday 9-30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park.
