June 8, 1967 ~ June 17, 2016
Nadine Castlemain Jellema, 49, of Mountain Green, Utah, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 17, 2016, due to complications of Cancer.
Born on June 8, 1967, in Ogden, Utah, Nadine was the youngest child of Victor Dean and Afton Kunz Castlemain.
She graduated from Bonneville High School in 1985, having excelled both academically and musically. She studied the piano all of her life, with her mother, Afton Castlemain, and Carol Watkins Hurst as her dedicated teachers. During her high school years, Nadine began her piano studies with Professor Gary Amano at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Upon graduating from high school, she continued her studies at Utah State, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance. Her love for the piano continued as she furthered her studies in a graduate program at Brigham Young University, receiving her Master’s Degree with honors in Piano Performance.
Nadine worked for a time at Western Mortgage, in South Ogden, while also giving private piano lessons to numerous students of all ages. She shared her musical talents as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nadine served in the China, Hong Kong Mission where she became fluent in the Cantonese Language.
Upon returning from her mission, Nadine married Robert Lee Bateman on April 25, 1988. They had two daughters, Nicolette and Marquessa. They later divorced. Nadine then met and fell in love with Adam Jellema and the two were married in Fiji. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Nadine had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. As a teenager, she had the opportunity to tour Europe, which she deemed as most memorable. Through the years, Nadine visited many beautiful places within the United States and Canada. She loved sandy beaches and the splash of the ocean waves upon the shoreline. She relished the breath-taking sunsets in Hawaii as well as the brisk breeze while fishing in the Pacific off the coastline of Seattle. Nadine also enjoyed the solitude and peaceful times within the walls of her home. She was creative and loved to compose and arrange music, as well as decorate her homes. She found great joy and satisfaction in these activities. Nadine will be dearly missed by all of those who loved her.
