Naida L. Dixon OGDEN, Utah – Naida L. Russell Dixon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at her son’s home in Texas of pulmonary fibrosis. She was born November 11, 1927 in Ogden, to Gladys Nichols and Lawrence H. Russell. She graduated from Ogden High School. Naida later married her high school sweetheart, Darrell E. Dixon, on August 25, 1946. They had four children – two daughters and two sons. Naida was a longtime federal employee working initially at Defense Depot Ogden and later transferring to Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 38 years of continuous and devoted service. She was a 13-year member of Mt. Ogden Homemakers. She especially enjoyed gardening and spent joyous hours attending to her yard and flowers. Naida was a longtime member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, which brought her great contentment, stability and unending faith. Nana (Naida) was truly a servant who was devoted to family and friends. She is survived by her son, Dr. Darrell R. (Renee) Dixon, Houston, TX; two daughters, Debra L. (Scott) Vross, Riverdale, UT; Suzanne E. Dixon, San Diego, CA; her brother, Gordy A. Russell, St. George; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Naida was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Darrell, their beloved son, James, her parents, brother, Larry (Lynn) Russell, special mother-in-law, Irene Gates and her grandson, Peter Dixon. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 13 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. A luncheon will follow the graveside services at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 140 No. Tyler Avenue, Ogden, UT. Funeral Directors, Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
