Naioma Rae (Thurston) DeBolt, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024, at The Peaks Memory Care facility in Clinton, Utah, into the loving embrace of her husband, Dale DeBolt and her parents, Warren and Iola Thurston. As well as her four sisters and one sister-in-law that were on the other side waiting for her.
Naioma was born on February 7, 1945, in American Fork, Utah, to Glen Warren and Ada Iola (Sorenson) Thurston. Raised on a farm in Annabella, Utah. Naioma grew up surrounded by the beauty of the land and the warmth of family. She and her siblings were taught the values of hard work, kindness, and service by their parents and grandparents. Naioma lived a life of love, faith, and devotion to her church, ancestry, and community.
On November 27, 1963, Naioma married her companion, Dale DeBolt, in American Fork, Utah, and had two children Debra and Bryan they lived in American Fork. Later they settled in a very nice neighborhood Clinton, Utah.
She was a stay-at-home mother to her children, Debbie Webster, and Bryan DeBolt.
Naioma was a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cherished her role in her local ward. Her deep faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found great joy in genealogy work and ancestor research. She was also a proud member of the National Society of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, with direct ancestors who journeyed to the Salt Lake Valley pulling handcarts.
Naioma had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including playing BINGO, working on puzzles, and enjoying card games (solitaire was a favorite), especially on her phone. She was also a dedicated member of a city bowling league and loved watching makeover house shows on TV. Naioma found joy in spending time outdoors, whether camping, fishing or tending to her garden each year. She loved her family and tried to keep up with everyone. Keeping positive was a part of everything she did, and everyone knew her from her warm smile and kind words.
Survivors include her two children, Debbie (Troy) and Bryan; brother, Kalvin; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Naioma was preceded in death by her husband, Dale DeBolt; her parents, Warren and Iola Thurston; four sisters, Charline, Frances, Norene, and Glenda; and sister-in-law, Margaret.
Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Peaks Memory Care facility for their compassionate attentive care the last few months of her life. She was well cared for and found comfort in their support and community built at their care facility. They also wish to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and physical therapists who supported Naioma throughout her life, as well as her neighbors and wonderful in-home service workers who ensured her safety and comfort while she was at home.
