Nancy DeLeon Amezcua

March 27, 1965 — October 21, 2024

Roy

Our dear mother Nancy sadly was taken from us too soon. She sadly passed away on October 21, 2024, when her four-year courageous battle with cancer ended at the young age of only 59.

She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering her unwavering support, wisdom and love in abundance. She offered this to many others and not just to her own children. Many others consider her to be their second mother. Her favorite role in life was being a mother. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, children, and grandchildren.

Nancy DeLeon Amezcua, born on March 27, 1965, in Ogden, Utah, passed away at her residence. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered by her BIG brown eyes, her beautiful smile and her genuine kindness and strength. Her contagious laugh and joking sessions will be missed.

Nancy was born in Ogden, Utah, to Abel Leon and Rosie Martinez. She was raised in Hawaii until her early teens. She was a proud graduate of Layton High School. She dedicated her career to serving her community, holding esteemed positions as a Project Manager at Hill Air Force Base and as a Manager for KBS over hospitality for IHC. Her professional endeavors were marked by her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence and genuine care for those she worked alongside.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Benjamin Ortega, her cherished daughter, Crystal (Matt) Patino, and her devoted sons, Danny (Betzi Sullivan) Leon and Shawno Sanchez. Nancy is also survived by her mother, Rosie Leon, and her dear brother, Michael Leon. She shared a special bond with her sisters, Valerie Leon and Yolanda Leon.

As a grandmother, Nancy found immense joy in her grandchildren: Aurelia Patino, Jazelle Patino, Xavier Patino, Jayden Leon, Julian Leon, Dayton Pacheco, Michael Sulivan, Vicente Leon, Romeo Sanchez, and Versary Sanchez. She will be fondly remembered for the love and attention she lavished upon them.

In her home, she was accompanied by her beloved puppy, Teddy, who brought Her comfort and companionship.

Family was most important to her. She enjoyed the outdoors, being by the ocean, fishing, camping, reading and cooking, she was a really great cook. Her cooking skills were unmatched. She could cook anything with ease and just by tasting the food, she could tell you the main ingredients. Cook offs were our favorite between her and Benny and of course she would always win! She was the best cook around and gathering to share in her cooking will be missed. She not only fed our stomachs but also our hearts with her food made with love.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving father, Abel Leon, who surely welcomed her into God’s kingdom with open arms. Mogil, her puppy, was waiting there to greet her as well.

A visitation to honor Nancy’s life will take place on Saturday October 26, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, located at 3333 W 5600 S, Roy, Utah, 84067

Nancy DeLeon Amezcua leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, tremendous strength, resilience and relentless support for all. She’s impacted on the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her.

Her cherished memories and unwavering spirit will forever continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Our hearts are broken but with God we will continue to keep her spirt alive within us. She will be deeply missed.
