Nancy Hess

July 18, 1957 — April 29, 2024

Roy

On Monday April 29, 2024, Nancy Hess passed away at the Ogden Regional Hospital at age sixty-six (66). Surviving to this age was a major achievement, as Nancy was diagnosed with type-one diabetes at the age of eight and not expected to live past thirty-five. Even so, though she endured ever increasing limitations, hardships, disappointments, and pain, Nancy never gave up on living and loving with all her heart.

Nancy came into this world on July 18, 1957. She was the eighth child of Percy Morgan and Laverna Wheeler Hess. An adorable and affectionate baby, Nancy grew into a beautiful and loving woman. With her blonde hair, big blue eyes, and dazzling smile, she briefly pursued a promising modeling career. Unfortunately, complications of her disease ended her dreams of long-term employment and eventually overly strained her relationships with spouses. Nevertheless, she kept trying.

On September 22, 1978, she married Robert Price and   gave birth to Mary Richelle (Shelly) on April 10, 1979. They were later divorced. Nancy believed Shelly’s birth was the greatest blessing of her life. She was always very proud of her daughter. Along with Shelly, Nancy loved her granddaughters more than anything. She also treasured her extended family and took great pleasure in spending time with her nephews and nieces. In return, all her family loves her and will miss her very much.

Nancy enjoyed going on adventures despite her condition. She traveled with family and friends across the USA, Canada, and Mexico; and moved various places in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho. She was a longtime resident of Kanab and Ogden, Utah. Regrettably, diabetic complications finally took their toll, and Nancy entered Manor Care of South Ogden, Utah in 2007. Without the help and support of these health care professionals with particular mention of Freddy Grover and Linda Badger, Nancy would not have lived into her sixties.

Nancy was preceded in death by her afore mentioned parents and three infant brothers, Dwayne, Mark, and Clark. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Darrin Rubens; granddaughters, Morgan Scott and Allie Rubens; brothers, sister, and their spouses: Samuel and Diane Hess, Jon and Colleen (Deceased) Hess, Dan and Kelly Hess, Mary and Franklin Jenkins; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A viewing for Nancy will be held on Monday evening, May 6, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist' Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S. On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. at the Fielding City Cemetery, 17145 N 4400 W, Fielding, Utah.
