Nancy Mae (Myers) Hopkins, 92, of Kaysville, Utah, passed away January 18, 2025 at her home in Kaysville. Nancy was the third child of Walter Lorain Myers and Elizabeth Jean (Myers) Myers. She was born in her home in Snug Harbor, Wintersville, Ohio and was delivered by her father. Her parents and two older brothers, Walter L. Myers Jr. and J Alan Myers preceded her in death.
Nancy attended Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia where she earned a BA in Education, but was never actually employed as an elementary school teacher. Instead she employed the skills learned to earn her degree in skillfully raising her five children; Kim Kay (Hopkins) Griesemer, Terri Lee (Hopkins) Clawson, Christopher Edward Hopkins, Patrick Sean Hopkins, and Jennifer Susan (Hopkins) Asplund, all currently living.
While attending college, she met and married John Edward Hopkins, Ph.D., also an education major. They were married in Wellsburg, West Virginia on April 10, 1952 and lived happily ever after.
She was a vibrant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served diligently in a number of positions, including; Founder and Director, Doylestown Family History Center; Ward and Stake Relief Society President; Ward and Stake Young Women’s President; Senior Missionary (Mongolia and Hong Kong); and Philadelphia Temple Ordinance Worker.
Her personal interests were many and varied, although family history was her first and foremost interest in that she personally researched literally thousands of her ancestors and wrote extensive histories of their lives and passage through time. While her church responsibilities and family history consumed much of her time and considerable leadership talent, she made time to develop her skills in personal hobbies such as quilting, cross stitching, stained glass, pottery, and writing, having published several books and articles.
She is survived by her loving husband, children, numerous grandchildren and too many great-grandchildren to count.
