Nancy B. Howard

RIVERDALE - Nancy Beckstead Howard passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones, on Saturday, December 11, 2010, from breast cancer.

She was born May 26, 1961, a daughter of Quinn Merrill and Norma Elaine Wright Beckstead. Nancy attended Ogden High School and graduated from Roy High School in 1979.

Nancy married Sterling "Todd" Howard on April 17, 1982 in Roy. A year later they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple.

As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many leadership callings principally amongst the youth, and had a great love for them.

Nancy attended several classes at Weber State University, but suspended her educational aspirations for the benefit of her family.

Nancy had many close friends and lived an exemplary life. She brought enthusiasm and joy wherever she went, and taught us the importance of living every moment to the fullest. She shared her love and enthusiasm for life with her numerous friends and associates, and touched many lives. Their family friends were closely intertwined.

She was an extraordinary decorator and renovator. Nancy had a passion for crafts such as jewelry making and quilting. She was always busy with a new project.

She sacrificed everything for her children. A strong willed woman, she spent her energies directing those around her in a righteous direction. Nancy never let discouragement, sickness, or pain slow her down. She never complained.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Sterling "Todd" Howard, three sons, Daniel, Christopher, and Forrest; her mother Norma Wright Buchanan; her step-father, Thomas Buchanan Sr., and four brothers, Mitch (Rena), Jon (Marilyn), James and Nathan (Melinda).

She was preceded in death by her father, Quinn Merrill Beckstead.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Riverdale 8th Ward Chapel, 4000 South 1150 West, with Bishop James Aurich officiating.

Family will meet friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
