Nancy L. Close Smiley

SYRACUSE a€" Nancy L. Close Smiley, age 61, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center due to complications of cancer.

She was born November 9, 1950 in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Ralph Close and Verda Close Bartay.

Nancy was a graduate of Davis High School and grew up in Layton, Utah.

She worked as a Home Health Aide and for Big Brother and Big Sister.

Nancy was a member of Lakeside Community Church. She always talked about and loved her church family. She had a very strong faith. Nancy loved music, crafts, planting flowers, but most of all she loved being with her daughters, grandchildren and friends near and far.

Nancy and her mother had a bond that was unlike any other; now they are together again doing the things they love best.

She is survived by her daughters, Stacy (Brett) Duersch of Syracuse; Erica (Robert) Cole of Syracuse; and four grandchildren plus one expecting.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ralph Close, Verda Bartay, step-father, Forrest Bartay and brother, Roger Allen Close.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Syracuse City Cemetery, 1290 So. 1000 W. Friends may visit family on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
