Nancy Louise Rose Smith
October 17, 1933 ~ January 29, 2017
“Together Again”
Nancy Louise Rose Smith, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 29, 2017. She had been ill but died of a broken heart, never recovering from the loss of her sweetheart, “Clyder”. She was born in Ogden, Utah on October 17, 1933 and was the daughter of Jesse Edwin and Hannah Lourena Stallings. She had one Brother Edwin Jesse Rose and four sisters, Jessie, Lorene, June and Pat.
She attended Catholic parochial school until ninth grade and graduated from Ogden High School.
She married the love of her life, Clyde B. Smith on September 25, 1953 and together they had four girls, Nannette Norgello, Leslie Price, Kellie Martinsson, and Baby Rose Smith, adding to one son Clyde was blessed with, Craig Smith. She loved all her children dearly and having her children around her brought such joy to her life.
She was dedicated to her career, with First Security Bank for more than 25 years, receiving many awards and accreditations’, retiring as Assistant Manager of the South Ogden office. She met some of her best friends and maintained lifelong friendships with the people she worked with and was still in contact with many of them.
Nancy was a devoted, caring wife, adoring mother and grandmother and a sweet “Grandma Great”.
Nancy was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP); National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), where she traveled numerous places with the organization, her favorite place being New Orleans; member of the Star Valley Ranch Association and held several positions with the LDS Church in various wards.
She loved to read (Danielle Steel was her favorite). She loved to cook and always had a good meal waiting for us. She taught us how to cook, sharing her recipes (minus the secret ingredients). She loved hosting parties and cooking for crowds and her pinochle clubs. Christmastime baking always started in November and we were never short on “goodies” at the house. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting, genealogy, babying her Christmas Cacti’s, going for long rides and planning our yearly vacations with the family, which always included two extras, her niece Jodi and nephew Nick Wallwork.
Mom and Dad spent some of the happiest times in their dream log cabin in Star Valley Wyoming, where she always had friends and family that stayed and enjoyed their dream. They also loved to travel, seeing most of the 50 states, enjoying nature’s beauty, exploring caves, forests, glaciers, and visiting friends. They also traveled many times overseas touring Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland, and Luxembourg. We were hoping to add one more country to her list, with Leslie planning a trip to Denmark to fulfill her dream of seeing where her Great Grandma Stallings came from.
“Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; a mother’s secret hope outlives them all” – Oliver Wendell Holmes

Smith; parents, infant daughter, brother, Edwin Jesse Rose; sisters, Jessie Marie Rose, Julia Lorene (Eddy) Thomas, Dorothy June (Doyle) Wallwork, and Patricia Ann (Allen-“Whitey”) Berry; brothers-in-law, Gerald Smith and Roy Dennis and son-in-law, Ralph Boyd Price; grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
