Nancy Christensen Swift

September 24, 1934 to January 3, 2017

Our beloved mother, sister, grandma and friend passed away January 3, 2017.  She was 82.

Nancy was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah and attended Davis High School.  Mom loved her family and children more than anything.  She was a devoted wife and loved unconditionally.  She was a “mama bear” who would stand and defend her children against all odds.

She worked as an administrative secretary for Intermountain Healthcare for several years and was the Supervisor for the secretarial staff and the surgical center at L.D.S. Hospital.

Mom loved to travel.  Hawaii was her favorite destination.  She loved chocolate, lobster and mai tais on the beach.  She studied English in college and loved music, the arts, literature and poetry.  Mom loved people and always rooted for the underdog.  She loved children.  She had many friends and loved ones.  Her warm smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

She married C.H. Christensen, MD on November 7, 1954.  He passed away on January 17 1975.  They had four children.  She married Shelley A. Swift, MD on September 2, 1985.  He passed away July 28, 2001.

Nancy is survived by her children, Kirk (Karen) Christensen, Wendy (Kristine) Spainhower, Kirby (Mindy) Christensen, Chrisanne (Dan) Lage; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard W. (Caroline) Purdy; aunt, Doris Raddatz.  Preceded in death by her parents, William G. and Thelma Purdy, brothers, James K. and Gerald Purdy, grandson, Adam Jacob Judson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 7, 2017 at the Bountiful Shadows Chapel, 1476 N. 300 W. Bountiful, where friends may visit from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment to follow at Bountiful City Cemetery.
