Nancy Amaro Zisumbo

February 1, 1931 ~ November 12, 2015

I began writing my obituary in 2012 for the purpose of making difficult times easier for my Husband and children. I was born in Dodge City, Kansas to Juan and Petra Ruiz Amaro.  I was the twelfth child of sixteen children and grew up in Dodge City.

I married the love of my life, Pete L. Zisumbo in 1947 by the Justice of Peace.  Pete and I came to Utah on July 24, 1953.  In 1955 we were married at St Mary’s Catholic Church.  Pete and I spent our years together living in Lucin, Utah, West Weber, Utah, and Ogden, Utah since 1958.

My joy in life are my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren watching them play sports, having our traditional family dinners, camping, and most important being home for my family.

God called me home on November 12, 2015, where I was surrounded by my loving husband of 68 years and the best family “God” could give me.

I am survived by my husband, Pete L. Zisumbo; four children, Manuel, Pat (Andrew) Mata, Julie (Joe) Tovar, and Pete (Chelle) Zisumbo; my precious jewels are my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Andy (Kim), Michael (Monica), David Mata, Nancy Mendez, Dotty Arroyo (deceased), Jessica (Adam) Taylor, Jose (Bea), Javier, Vanesa, Jewell Tovar, Zach (Syd), Britain, and Sage Zisumbo; my great-grandchildren, Alex Deering, Jeremy Voohees, Maria Mendez, Jesse Mendez, Jesse James Hansen, Julieta Castillo, Treysen Zisumbo, Abagayle Mata, Keith Ryzin Taylor, Jessie Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Alysha Lee, Jose Tover III,  Alexandro Tover; and my one great-great-grandchild, Millie Deering; many nieces and nephews that I loved as my own children.  Survived by my sisters, Santos Higareda, Francis (John) Zizumbo; and Margarita Amaro my sister-in-law who was like a sister to me.  I am preceded in death by my parents and grandparents, brothers, Marcial, Matias, Victor, Catarino, Gilbert, and Simon; sisters, Nellie, Angela, Alex, Olivia, and Jane.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
