"BEN" DOMENICI
Narduccio Benton Domenici 1942---2015 Narduccio Benton Domenici (Known by his friends as Ben or Benny) passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Ben was born on April 2, 1942 in Caliente, Nevada to Narduccio Domenici and Jimmy Lou Gifford. Ben was 73 years old.
Ben was a bright light that brought happiness and love to all those that knew him. Despite a life filled with trials and intense suffering, Ben was always happy and spread that happiness wherever he went. People have said that he was "one of a kind" and that is so true. There will never be anyone like our Dad and Boompa. He made life "happy, happy, happy" in ways that are only unique to him. From a Christmas tree decorated with glittered lobster tails and crab claws, to crawfish jewelry, and lots of desserts, Ben kept life exciting. He will be deeply missed by so many people, and his family will always feel a deep emptiness without him.
Ben contracted Polio at age 4, which significantly limited the use of his right arm. However, he refused to be labeled "handicapped" and spent his life proving that disabilities couldn't slow him down. He never wanted to end up in a wheelchair, but when he did for the last year and a half, he became a dangerous driver of his powered chair.
Ben graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1961 where he served as Student Body President. He was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full time mission for the church in Switzerland and northern Italy. His testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel was deep and fostered the courage and faith that guided him throughout his numerous trials.
Knowing the definition of a difficult childhood, Ben dedicated his life to easing the difficulties in countless children's lives. He worked at the American Fork Training School, opened a group home for handicapped children in American Fork, spent years as a special education teacher, and always took foster children into his home. He and his wife, Charlotte, eventually adopted three of those children who have become an eternal and treasured part of his family. Ben was given the honor of "Teacher of the Year" for the Logan City School District in 1983, and there couldn't possibly be a more deserving person.
Ben was preceded in death by his sweet wife, Charlotte Elder Domenici, his parents, and a sister. He is survived by eight children: Natalee Fristrup (Bryan); Nylan Domenici (Raquelle); Nalisa Bradley (Terry); Neven Domenici (Jennifer); Nellis Domenici (Debra); Chris Domenici (Rachel); Timothy Domenici (Amber); and Michael Domenici (Desiree). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
