Nasser P. Shakib

1930 ~ 2016

Nasser P. Shakib passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016, surrounded by his family at his home in Ogden, Utah a few days after his 86th birthday.

He was born in 1930 in Northern Iran by the Caspian Sea and immigrated to the United States in 1958. Within a year of his arrival in Utah, he met and married the love of his life, Jenial. Together they worked very hard to build a good life for their family. Nasser earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering and Business from Weber State University.

Nasser was known for his honesty, openness, and devotion to his family.  He was exceptionally generous in word and deed. He loved to have guests over to share good meals and stories, which he always punctuated with Persian poetry.  His charm and sense of humor touched everyone he met.  He was a role model and advisor to many young people both from his birth country and those who adopted this great country as their home.  He was exceptionally proud of the educational achievements of his children and of their success in their chosen careers.

Nasser had an abundant love of nature from childhood.  His favorite times were spent fishing with his son and many shared in the bounty of his beautiful garden.

Nasser is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Jenial; children, Shaun (Sabine) and Julie; adored grandchildren, Thomas and Sarah; beloved sister, Fakhri; brother, Nosrat; dear cousin, Cyrus; and his nephews and nieces in Iran.

A memorial service will be held for Nasser in Tehran, Iran on November 24th.

We will honor Nasser’s life on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  with a reception to follow at the family home.  Please bring your stories and memories, and we will give thanks for the joy Nasser brought to our lives.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
