Naydene S. Miller
SOUTH OGDEN - Naydene Sant Miller, 78, passed quietly Sunday, October 19, 2008, with her family at her side. Naydene was born in Treasureton, Idaho on March 28, 1930, to Cloie Conlin Sant and Orson Clifford Sant, the oldest of six children. They later moved to Ogden, Utah where she attended Mound Fort Junior High School and graduated from Ogden High School. Shortly after graduation, Naydene met the love of her life, Volmer Larsen Miller, and they were married July 1, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple.
After their marriage they lived in Logan, Utah while Volmer completed college at Utah State University. As a young woman, Naydene was very active in the LDS Young Women’s programs and later while living in Ogden, Utah, she served in the Relief Society and as the 31st Ward Librarian for a number of years. Living a life of loyalty and service, Naydene loved to gather the senior women in the ward and take them on short day trips to many local venues for a day out. She was proud of her membership in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and volunteered many hours in their service. In 1979, she moved to Pleasant View, Utah where she remained until 2000. For the past eight years, Naydene lived in South Ogden.
Naydene enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting, and turned many thousands of yarn skeins into afghans, sweaters, caps, and butterflies. Christmas was one of her favorite times of the year and she would spend days baking her famous fruitcakes, among other baked goodies, to deliver to a good portion of the ward.
In constant motion and always working on one project or another, Naydene doted on and gave her unconditional love to her two children, Vodean Miller and Katrina Haberman. Naydene opened her home and heart to Vodean’s wife LouAnn and Katrina’s husband Eric. Naydene also relished visiting with her grandchildren, Valon, Landen and Nelanna Miller and Marissa, Breanna and Makenna Haberman. She was fortunate enough to live long enough to welcome her first great-granddaughter, Avery Miller, into the world.
Despite tremendous medical challenges Naydene kept a smile on her face. Naydene leaves a family legacy of integrity, honesty and unconditional love. Special thanks to the caregivers of Pinnacle Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care, and to Jared for being there when we needed him.
She is survived by her husband, Volmer, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She is also survived by three brothers, Murray Sant, Blaine (Kay) Sant, and Dennis (Mary) Sant and one sister, Lois (Larry) Bachman.
Naydene was preceded in death by her parents, Orson and Cloie Sant, her sister Clureen (Rolland) Clingman, and Dewey Conlin.
