Ned Francis Clark
Ned Francis Clark passed away on February 25, 2017 at the age of 87, after battling colon cancer the past six years.
He was born on November 16, 1929 to Francis Louis Clarke and Katie LaVern Gardner Clarke, of Eden, Utah. Ned was the third child born in a family of six children; five girls and one boy.
In 1948, Ned married Betty Grant and they lived in Layton, UT, where they raised their three daughters; Jerrie, Debra (Debbie), and Gail. They later divorced.
In 1969 he married Sallye Mae Malloy. Sallye brought to this union a young son Albert (Al). Ned adopted Al and raised him as his own. Together, Ned and Sallye had a daughter Kristi. Sallye died in November 2013.
During the summer months of his youth, Ned worked for neighboring farmers to help with their farm work. With the older boys off to fight the battles of World War II, the younger boys had to step up and help with the farm work. He also worked at Patio Springs swimming resort. During the summer months of his high school years, he worked at the Utah General Depot on 2nd Street in Ogden, which began his career with the Federal Service. In October 1947, Ned started working at Hill Field, which later became known as Hill Air Force Base when its name changed on February 5, 1948. He retired from HAFB on January 3, 1989, three months short of 42 years of Federal Service.
Ned enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting, but when he retired he gave them up and devoted his time to playing golf with his friends. He enjoyed camping with family members and taking friends on road trips.
He is survived by his children: Jerrie (Dan) Clarke-Gagnon, Mesquite, NV; Debbie Adams, Layton, UT; Gail (Tom) Woolsey, No. Ogden, UT; Albert Clark, Eagar, AZ; and Kristi (Darren) Durbano, Fruit Heights, UT. Ned had 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters: Pat Raymond, Roy, UT; and Sharon Booth, Surprise, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
Ned was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Sallye; sisters, Lou Jean Taylor, Betty and her husband Victor Marshall, Lida Beth and her husband Bob Johnson; brother-in-law Rulon Booth; and a baby granddaughter Brittany Clark.
