Nedra Jane Lucherini Coyner

Nedra Jane Lucherini Coyner, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 23, 2025, after complications from a fall. 

Nedra was born on November 6, 1938, to Melvin and Gwelda (Lamb) Lucherini, in Logan, Utah. After graduating from Logan High School, she went on to study Nursing at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, graduating in 1961. She worked in the medical field for a brief period before serving her mission in the Taipei, Taiwan and Oakland, California missions. Her time in the mission field was such a proud memory of which she spoke with great fondness.

In 1972, she met and married Craig Coyner in the Salt Lake Temple and relocated to his home in Bend, Oregon. She adopted his two young sons, David and Tad, and welcomed a daughter, Kristen, in 1974.

Nedra’s life was filled with family, faith, and service. Her stalwart testimony in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was unwavering and fearless. She inspired generations of women through her service in the Bend Relief Society and later in the Young Women program. She loved teaching a Gospel Doctrine class on Sundays and even spent some time in the Primary. Her friends remember her generosity and spirit of service who selflessly gave her time and efforts to her Brothers and Sisters in the Church.

In 2001, she and Craig moved back to her home state of Utah, where they settled in Layton in a home in the Angel Crossing Ward. She adored her ward and neighbor friends and was very involved in her church community.

Nedra was greeted on the other side by her husband, Craig; parents, Melvin and Gwelda; brothers, Glen and Ray; and her sister, Jean. 

She is survived by her sister, Gayle, sons, David (Maria) and Tad (Linda), daughter Kristen (Jenova), her grandchildren, Megan, D.J., Ashley, Katelyn, Heather, Tyler, Brooke, Kyle, Devynn, Kai, Drew, and her many beloved great-grandchildren. She treasured her family and was adored as the cherished matriarch.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel, 628 S. Angel St. Layton, Utah 84041.

Friends may visit family and friends on Thursday January 30, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Rd. Layton, Utah 84041, and Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road Layton, Utah.
