Neil Robert Bybee

January 26, 1940 — October 1, 2024

Uintah

Neil Robert Bybee, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in his home while being held in the arms of our mother after an 18-year battle with Parkinson’s disease which he never used as an excuse to quit life. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to his hospice team, especially Morgen and Rachel from Inspiration Hospice.

Dad was born in Ogden, Utah, was raised and lived in the town of Uintah most of his life until moving to South Weber to enjoy the last years of his life with his sweetheart who he proposed to over a Lime Rickey at Mason’s Drive-in over 64 years ago.

Dad served in the United Sates Navy as well as the United States Coast Guard achieving the rank of Second-Class Petty Officer. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with the love of his life, our mom, in St. George, Utah. Dad served as a City Councilman in Uintah. While serving on the City Council, he and a fellow councilman started the volunteer fire department in the Town of Uintah. Dad had a long and successful career of 36 years at Utah Power & Light where he retired as a Systems Operations Manager.

Our dad was an exceptional husband, father, papa, great-grandfather, son, brother, and friend. If you knew him you know he was also an electrician, builder, plumber, excavator, hard worker, handyman, mechanic, fabricator, inventor, visionary, carpenter, mathematician, problem solver, artist, volunteer, missionary, fireman, sailor, chef, teacher, mentor, comedian, skilled off roader, fisherman, hunter, modern day mountain man, water sports athlete, golfer, skilled baseball player, remote control helicopter pilot, gentleman, and romantic. Basically our dad was Superman.

Dad is survived by his wife, Sandy; his three sons, Jeff (Mary), Tyler, and Travis (Cheryl); his grandchildren, Heidi (Tom), Shad (Erin) Kalie, Carson (Morgan), Colton (Lauren), Chase (Abby), Brooke (Nathaniel), Jake (Madison), Carter (Sydnee), Becca (Parker); as well as 18 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim (Sherry), Lance (Cheryl), and Janice (Glen).
