Neil DeLoy Harrington

“Gone Fishin”

Neil Harrington passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 of Multiple Organ Failure.

He was born January 9, 1936 in Reno, Nevada the son of DeLoy Franklin and Lorna Evans Harrington.

He was a graduate of Ben Lomond High Class of 1954. Neil married Gloria Kay Gould of Ogden December 1, 1954. They later divorced. He married Ilene Safford Day of Meadow April 1, 1971. She was the true love of his life. She passed January 2, 2011. He married Linda Ellis on October 20, 2011.

He was gifted with an excellent singing voice and was the lead singer in the Country Boys band for over 30 years, playing an average 40 weekends a year. After the band retired, he sang at nursing homes, giving almost 300 performances. He was an avid fisherman and loved going with his son, Gary and good friend Mike Mulder.

In his later years he became active in the LDS Church. He was a member of the Layton 17 th Ward. He felt much love and fellowship from his ward, which brought him much comfort in his last days. He loved teaching the young men and performing at church functions.

He is survived by his three sisters, children Shellie, Valerie (John) Glover, Gary, Stacie (Gordon) Ferguson, Holly (Robert) Goss, Cary (Sherri) Day, and Dianna (David) Evans, 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his sons, Steven and Michael Day.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Layton Stake Center, 60 West Gordon Ave, Layton. Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Meadow Cemetery.
