Nelda Elizabeth Johnson Christensen

Nelda Elizabeth Johnson Christensen, 85, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Heritage Park Care Center of natural causes. Mom was a survivor of breast cancer four different times.

She was born August 20, 1925 in Vernal, Utah to Quince and Chloe Hall Johnson.

On July 24, 1942, Nelda married Gale Leonard Christensen in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved serving in the MIA and serving in various other callings.

Nelda worked for the IRS as a tax examiner.

Mom''s will to live life was her greatest talent. She loved to cook for her family and enjoyed the Deep Creek Cattle Ranch. Mom loved her children and was always willing to teach them new things. She loved camping, and the outdoors. She loved bowling and there was never a bowling pin that Mom could not knock down.

Nelda is survived by her husband, Gale; a son, Randall, a daughter, Cathleen (Lynn) Taylor, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ralph (Ardis), Dean (Clifta), Orson, Larry (Judy), Loyal (Earlene), and a sister, Ivy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mable and Stella, and a brother, Eldon.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 10th at 11 a.m. at Roy City Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
