Nelda Elida Harwood Vance passed away at her home in Layton Utah on Sunday September 15, 2019, at 2:55 pm at the age of 88.
Nelda is predeceased by her husband Robert Garn Vance, and her eldest son Michael Harwood Vance.
Nelda and Bob were married in the Manti Temple on April 7, 1954 and had been married for 60 years at the time of Roberts death.
Nelda is lovingly remembered by her children, Michelle Vance Williams and her husband Bruce Williams; Sharon Vance Carroll and her husband Steve Carroll; Robert Jeffrey Vance, KymberlyAnn Vance, Allyson “Buffy” Vance Fuhriman and her husband Scott Fuhriman, and Aric Vance who was their grandson of which they helped raise with his mother Allyson. Aric was a great source of pride to them both and gave them both a sense of renewed life. Nelda’s sister, Joyce Harwood Greenhalgh and her husband Bill Greenhalgh and their four daughters Terry, Lisa, Stephanie and Keirsten of whom she loved dearly. Nelda and Bob have nine grandchildren Aric Vance, Naisha Williams, Christopher Williams, Alex Williams, Jason Carroll, Steven Carroll, Ciarin Carroll Connor, Cameron Fuhriman, Boston Fuhriman, and Scotlynn Fuhriman. Nelda has five beautiful great-grandchildren all of whom were greatly loved.
Nelda was born on March 14, 1931, in Spanish Fork, Utah. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School and went on to BYU with a nursing degree. Nelda worked nights at Cottonwood Hospital, LDS Hospital, while raising her six children and finally at Davis Hospital until she retired at the age of 72.
Nelda played the piano beautifully and played the piano and organ for her church. Nelda always wanted a large family as she was one of only two children growing up. Nelda grew up with her mother owning her own Floral shop and always enjoyed working with flowers. Nelda and Bobs home was a great source of pride and they worked very hard to maintain their home in their later years.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
