NELLIE TUITA’U EPATI
1937-2013
Nellie Tuita’uEpati passed away peacefully on October 6, 2013 in her home in West Valley City. She was born in Masina, Ta’u, Manu’a, American Samoa on June 19, 1937 to TogotogoTuita’u and AlatasiTa’amuTuaoloTuita’u. She was the seventh of eleven children. Nellie was married to LetasiEpati in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Nellie loved Samoan and Hawaiian music and dance. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and was a natural ukulele player. She was one of the original members of the Three Roses from Pago Pago who toured throughout all Samoa sharing their love of music.
Education was important to Nellie and she made it a lifetime goal to continue schooling. It gave her peace of mind as long as she attended any adult/trade schools in her city.
Nellie’s main joy was taking care of her son and her many nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. To her nieces and nephews she was also like their mother. We will miss her very much. Nellie was very loved by her family and friends.
Nellie is survived by her son Bob and daughters Nellie, Jacqueline, Rosie, and grandchildren.
