Neone Stenquist

Neone Andersen Stenquist

Layton, Utah – Neone Andersen Stenquist, (86) passed away at home on February 7, 2020, surrounded by her family. We mourn her passing, but are so blessed to have been part of her life.

Neone was born on July 1, 1933, in Brigham City, Utah, to Joseph Lester Andersen and Olivia Forsgren. She was welcomed by brothers, J.F., Oleen, LeeRoy, and Grant, as well as sisters, Jneil and LaRee.

Neone married her eternal companion, Floyd Stenquist on June 11, 1953 in the Logan Temple. They made their first home in Spokane, Washington, where Floyd was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. They lived in Garland, Utah, before purchasing a home in Layton where they raised their family. They have two children, DeAnn and Jerry.

Neone made her house a true home that was filled with love and joy. She was a homemaker extraordinaire. She took great pleasure in keeping a clean and tidy home. She was a fabulous cook and kept her family well-fed. Neone was a great hostess and prepared meals for guests when Floyd was serving in his various Church callings. She had a great sense of humor.

Neone grew up in a musical family and developed a love for great music. She played the violin and she had a beautiful alto voice and enjoyed singing in choirs and in a trio with her friends.

She wrote poetry and collected quotations that were meaningful to her. She was always ready with a good joke or a witty remark. She enjoyed reading, sewing and doing handwork.

Neone was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many different callings and was a great support to her husband as he served in leadership capacities. She loved the Lord and patterned her life after His. She and Floyd served three missions, which included serving in the mission office in Sweden, serving in the Nauvoo Temple, and three years as members of the Ogden Temple Presidency.

Neone was a people person and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had a charitable heart and exercised tender watch care over those in her circle of influence. Neone and Floyd opened their hearts and home to youth who needed a safe haven or an opportunity for learning.

Neone loved her family.  We will be eternally grateful for all she did for us, and the righteous legacy she has left. She is an elect lady and will be missed deeply. We love you!

Neone is survived by her husband, Floyd; children, DeAnn (Dale) Fonnesbeck, and Jerry (Patricia) Stenquist. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 26 great- grandchildren. A sister, LaRee Carter also survives her.
