Neta Mae Brower Smith

Neta Mae Brower Smith, 82, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 22, 2014, reuniting with her beloved Lewis on their 65 th Wedding Anniversary. She was born in Rexburg, Idaho on February 1, 1932 to Hyrum Albert and Emma Elizabeth Winn Brower. She grew up in Idaho except for a few years when her family lived in the Uintah Basin.
She married James Lewis Smith on June 22, 1949 in Twin Groves, Idaho. Lewis passed away on April 19, 2004.
Neta worked for the Internal Revenue Service in the Tax Collections Department.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully as the Stake Genealogist, Ward Historian, Relief Society Secretary, and as a Primary Counselor. Neta was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and enjoyed serving as a docent in the museum. She loved working on genealogy. Neta enjoyed quilting and made many that have been passed onto the family. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and sewing.
Neta is survived by her sons, Allen (Debbie) and Kerry (Marianne); daughters, Dixie Lee (John Mark) Sampson and Crystal (Kenneth) Cockrum; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and brother, Albert J. Brower.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three grandchildren, one great-grandson, parents, sisters, Effie Rae Hobbs, Veda Jean Wehner, and brother, Ronald D. Brower.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
