Neva Pearl Mapes Morgenstern
Neva Pearl Mapes was born March 17, 1909 in Waterville, Kansas. The eldest of seven children, she grew up in the mountains near Ft. Collins, Colorado. She married Rolland C. Morgenstern in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and lived in Anchorage Alaska, Missoula Montana, and Grand Junction, Colorado. For the last 24 years she has lived with her daughter Rolene Thompson in Layton, Utah.
Survived by two children, Rolene Thompson of Layton, Utah, Robert Edward Morgenstern of Port Angeles, Washington, two sisters Alma Amy of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Ruth Parker of Pennsylvania. Grandchildren, R. Charles Thompson, Julie Morgenstern, Mari Shay, and Robert Morgenstern. Four great-grandchildren. Neva was an avid Utah Jazz basketball fan. She loved photography, oil painting, and was an excellent seamstress. Having lived through two world wars and survived the great depression. Neva loved our country and was very patriotic. Her two mottos were "Wear your seat belt, and always vote."
Preceded in death by her husband, Rolland, three brothers, two sisters, one grandson Douglas Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 11:45 to 12: 45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street.
