Neva Williams
“The Lord Has Blessed Me”
Our dear, sweet mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, and sister, Neva Williams completed her remarkable 99 year journey on June 17, 2013. She is now joyously reunited with her husband, family and friends who have passed on. She was born on April 28, 1914 in Ogden, Utah to George Everett and Mary Ann Hadley Goodell. She grew up in Ogden and lived there until November of 2012 when she moved to Layton to live with her daughter.
Neva married Blair Elwood Williams on April 29, 1935. She was a devoted mother to one daughter and one son, Neva Joanna Williams (Harlan) Francis and James Blair (Maurine) Williams.
She was employed at Bon Marche in Ogden as Drapery Consultant. Neva was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and willingly served in many callings. She was President of the 27th Ward Mutual for 7 years, taught Primary and Sunday School classes, volunteered at the Bishop’s Storehouse for 6 years and served 4 years as an Ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. Neva was keenly interested in Family History and tracing Genealogy. She was a member of the Utah Daughters of Pioneers, Heritage Camp.
Her hobbies were sewing, music and other creative activities.
Neva is survived by her son, James (Maurine) Williams, Joanne (Harlan) Francis; sister, Edna Lanier; 7 grandsons, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
