Nevin Alexander Criddle
KAYSVILLE a" Nevin A. Criddle, 80, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009, of natural causes.
He was born July 4, 1928, in Kaysville, Utah to Alexander Dawson and Ethel Mae Nevin Criddle. He married Ethel Fern Allan October 14, 1948, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served as Young Men''s President, Sunday School President, High Priest Group Leader, Ward Clerk, Assistant Stake Clerk and Home Teacher. He served an LDS service mission with his wife at the Kaysville Bishops Storehouse.
He was employed at Hill Air Force Base for 33 years and retired in 1987.
He was a life-long resident of Davis County and an avid sports fan, especially of the Davis Darts where he was honored with a lifetime pass to all athletic events. His family loved his home-made vanilla ice cream, which could not be equaled. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard and his association with his kind neighbors.
He is survived by his children: Van (Kathy) Eugene, Oregon; Craig (JoAnn), Hooper; Monte (Judy), Ogden; Jeff (Emmy), Layton; Cindy Petersen (Mike), Layton; Kelly (Jeri), Syracuse; Chris Mason (Jodie), Eugene, Oregon; 28 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Maureen DeSpain and Estella Reyes. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Fern Allan, brothers LaVar, Duane and Val, grandson Lane Jodie Mason and great-grandson Porter Lane Mason.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Brookhaven LDS Chapel, 190 No. Country Lane. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
