Newel “Dee” McMillan

April 5, 1945 ~ February 22, 2016

Newel “Dee” McMillan passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 surrounded by his family into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father and waiting loved ones after an extended illness.

Dee was born April 5, 1945 in San Bernadino, CA, a son of Newel C. and Nelma McMillan. He grew up in Salt Lake and Ogden and graduated from Bonneville High School.

He served an LDS Mission in the Southern California Region.

While working at ZCMI he met the love of his life, Annette Rowley and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 30, 1967.

Dee was a High Priest and served in many capacities within the LDS Church.

He was an insurance agent, worked at BLM, had his own business for many years, then worked at HAFB before he retired. He was a mechanic and handyman and helped build the home he and his family have lived in for nearly 40 years.

The outdoors, “glamping”, riding his 4-wheeler, gold mining, sharing his stories and collecting M & M dispensers were some of his favorite activities.

Dee leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 49 years, their four children, Michael (Jeanette) McMillan, Roy; Taunia (Blake) Jaques, Sunset; Shaun (Cami) McMillan, Layton and Jen (Shawn) Henrie, Roy; 14 grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to thank everyone who has helped care for him through this difficult time especially his hospice nurse, Ashlee and CNA, Tiffany.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Roy 27th Ward Chapel, 3776 West 5375 South. Family and friends will meet Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, West Haven Cemetery.
