Nicholas James Ridd
On December 12, 2020, Nicholas James Ridd passed away unexpectedly and was released from this mortal world.
Nick was born on June 23, 1977 to Jim and Julie Ridd. He was the oldest of four children. He attended Davis High School and graduated college with a Masters in Business at Utah State University in 2003. Nick went on to obtain a J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, CA; graduating magna cum laude in 2006.
Nick was passionate about healthy eating and kept his body in great physical shape. Throughout his college years, he loved to run and was an avid cyclist. He completed many marathons and triathlons. He was proud of his medals and looked forward to his mother creating a quilt out of the racing t-shirts he obtained.
Nick has always been an intellect and loved to learn. If he could make a career being a professional student, he would have. He knew how to figure out puzzles and problems. Nick was a true mechanic. He liked to take apart and fix anything, especially cars. He was a logical thinker and left emotion out of decision-making. Nick was efficient. He knew how to scrimp, save and help others with almost any situation they were in; a real handyman. He was a kind and thoughtful human being who loved and looked for the good in anyone he met; the opposite of judgmental.
Nick loved spending time with his daughter Lucy, more than anything else. She was his pride and joy; he adored her. The two of them loved to laugh and tease each other, creating a special bond that will live on forever.
Despite Nick’s lifelong struggles with addiction, he was enthusiastic about life and very optimistic. He had grit. He was a survivor. We will miss Nick’s quick wit, infectious laughter and philosophical conversations. Nick, you have left void in our hearts that is impossible to fill. We love you!
Nick is survived by his daughter Lucy; his mother: Julie; his siblings: Wes (Jess), Andy and Abbie (Michael); his nieces and nephews: Morgan, Carson, Malia, Mckinley, Summit, Bear and Atlas.
