Nick Franz

Nicklas Kelly Franz unexpectedly passed away July 28th, 2023 at McKay Dee Hospital.

He was born March 26th, 1979 in Cedar City, UT to Richard and Geri (Garrett) Franz. He was the cutest baby with the most beautiful curly hair. 

As a little boy, he loved catching crawdads and eating the whole pot. Nick loved playing Junior Golf with is #1 supporter, Grandma James. Nick graduated from Copper Hills High School in 1997. After high school, Nick held numerous jobs including working as a stone mason until he discovered his niche as a heavy equipment operator. Nick worked for GCI for 9 years before him and Elizabeth took a leap of faith and started their own company, High Uinta Excavation.

Nick married the loved of his life, Elizabeth (Hanson) Franz on December 17th, 2021. During their short time together, Nick shared his passion of hunting, fishing, riding, and camping with her and her girls. They went on many adventures with their family and close friends. He counted down the months until winter when he spent his time snowmobiling with “The Boys.” Nick’s passion for hunting came from his Grandpa Ted. He loved hunting season and spending it with his sons and his Uncle Jon.

Nick is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Hanson) Franz at the family home, sons Hunter McCallister (Magna, Ut) and Dillon Franz, and his bonus daughters Malia, Angelina “Bean” and Abigail Weaver also at the family home; His parents Richard and Geri (Garrett) Franz (West Jordan, Ut), his sister Kailee Franz (West Jordan, Ut), his brother Zach (Kaitlyn) Franz (Monterey, California); nieces Averi, Zoe and Josephine; aunts Laurie, Leeann, Jennifer and Misty; Uncle Jon; and numerous friends he considered family.

He is preceded in death by his sister Jacy Jo Franz. Grandparents Ted and Barbara (Knell) Garrett and Richard and Marta (Thompson) Franz. Brother-in-law Brent Scovill and Bart Anderson.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 12th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, Roy UT 84067 followed by a gathering at the family home at 3448 W 5825 S, Roy UT.  Friends may visit with family on Friday, August 11th, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
