Nile Jay Griffin

Nile Jay Griffin passed away peacefully on March 17, 2014. He was born on June 24, 1936 to Brigham and Bessie Griffin in Clarkston, Utah. Nile married Patricia Zollinger on June 17, 1960 in the Logan LDS Temple. They raised five daughter and two sons. He graduated from Utah State University, majoring in education. He taught 5th and 6th grades for the Weber School District for 33 years.
Nile was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a devoted servant of the Lord. He served a mission in the West Central States Mission and has served in many callings including Bishop of the Washington Terrace 10th Ward. He also enjoyed working in the Ogden LDS Temple with his wife.
His hobbies included fishing, playing pranks, and helping others with their home improvement projects whether they wanted it or not.
Nile is survived by his wife, Patricia; his five daughters, Cathy (Dennis) Longfellow, Jann (Drew) Stephens, Sheri (Michael) Goodell, Heidi (Ryan) Perkins, and Amy (Michael) Crookston; two sons, Brian (Chalese) Griffin and Jay (Jennifer) Griffin and 22 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Maynard (Virginia) Griffin and Terry (Kaylene) Griffin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 10th Ward, 125 East 5350 South. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
