Nina (Tarantino) Casteel 1921-2008

Nina Casteel passed away quietly, Friday, July 18, 2008 at Life Care Center of Bountiful, Utah. Born October 16, 1921 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Peter and Ethel (Raffaela Macchia) Tarantino. She attended high school in Sheridan, Wyoming and graduated from the Wyoming Aircraft School as a machinist.

She married Cecil M. Johnson June 13, 1943 in Hardin, Montana who fathered and helped raise all her children in Fairfield, California. She later was remarried to James Casteel December 28, 1967. Nina was an accomplished musician and taught accordion in Fairfield, California. She is survived by her daughters, Priscilla (Steve) Bedient and Celia Johnson, both of California; son Ken (Sue) Johnson of Bountiful, Utah; sister Carmel Massafra, Virginia; brother, Oscar (Diane) Tarantino, California; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Nina and her family would like to especially thank her roommate and good friend Darla Peterson for her kindness and love. The family would also like to thank Life Care Center of Bountiful for the kind and loving care given to Nina over the last six years.

No funeral services will be held in Utah. Interment will be at Calvary Mausoleum in Los Angeles, California.
