Nola Parkinson Ames

Our loving mother and grandmother Nola Ames passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at the age of 86, at Fairfield Village of Layton.

Nola was born October 6, 1930 in Egin, Idaho, a daughter of Joseph Earl and Ollie Lavern Parkinson. She graduated from Edmunds High School.  She married the love of her life, Darrel Ames, November 19, 1948 in Edmunds, Idaho.  Their vows were solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 20, 1959. Nola was a wonderful wife and mother of four children.

Nola was an active member of the LDS Church.  She had a fulfilling career with Sperry Rand Corporation and Hill Air Force Base.  She enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Nola is survived by her loving husband, Darrel; and children, Sharon (Don) Gates; Dennis (Maureen) Ames; six grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren; and brother, Dale (Zona) Parkinson.  Nola was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Darrel Ames and Steven Leslie Ames; her parents, Joseph Earl and Ollie Lavern Parkinson; brother, Eldon Parkinson; and sisters, Areta Campbell, Marva Kidd, and Donna Mortenson.

Nola was a dear wife, mother, and grandmother.  She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Layton Park Ward, 789 Wasatch Drive, Layton.  Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Davis Hospital and Medical Center, Fairfield Village of Layton and Inspirational Hospice for their tender loving care, concern and support.
