Nola Spicer

Nola Hitchcock Tenney Spicer passed away at the age of 62, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 of cardiac arrest after a short battle with cancer.

She was born May 7, 1958 in Chicago. IL to Charles Kent and Joy Carol Bradeen Hitchcock. She was raised, educated and graduated in 1976 from Piner High School in Santa Rosa, CA.

On August 16, 1979, Nola married Mark Dana Spicer in Ogden, Utah. They later divorced.

Nola was a mother to five children and a grandmother to 14 grandchildren. She had and was loved by literally hundreds of friends and was deeply loved by her family. She was universally admired for her generosity, kindness and love for all she encountered which endeared her to so many.

Nola was a life-long active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous and varied callings over the years. She was true to her faith and her beliefs, through numerous difficulties and challenges, she managed to keep a positive attitude and to reach out in love, generosity and service to all around her and beyond.

She earned a bachelor's degree in history from Brigham Young University and had a passion for history, particularly American Civil War, WWII and Latter-day Saint history. She was also known for her beautiful singing voice. Nola was an enthusiastic member and leader of the Tupperware sales team for decades, leading others to a career with the Tupperware Company.

Nola is survived by her children, Saralyn (Nick) Lucas, Rachael Spicer Price, Holly (Nate) Thompson, Adam (Ashley) Spicer and Kent (Margaret) Spicer, 12 of her 14 grandchildren, her sisters, Rebecca (Steven) Goodrich, Loralyn (Chris) Tenney Hogewoning, Jacquelyn (Dan) Tenney Abernathy, Pamela Tenney Jarvis and brother, R. Clark (Sonya) Tenney. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Kent Charles Hitchcock, mother, Joy Carol Bradeen Hitchcock Tenney Rackham, stepfathers, Jack Muir Tenney, Jack Rackham, youngest sister, Cherylyn Claire Tenney Klvacek, granddaughter, Chloe Faith Price and grandson, Kaiden Shinzou Spicer.

Nola lost her father to a tragic drowning accident when she was three years old and always longed to know him. We take comfort in knowing that she is enjoying a joyful reunion with him, as well as her mother and younger sister.

Very many thanks to all who have expressed kind words and condolences to Nola’s family. It is truly a reflection of the beautiful impact she had on so many lives. Nola will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. This world has lost, and Heaven has gained, one of its most beautiful angels. We love you, Nola. Till we meet again.

Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho. The family will meet with friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
