Noleen Tanner (Bennett)

July 4, 1944 — July 17, 2024

Noleen Tanner (Bennett) was born July 4, 1944 and passed away July 17, 2024 at the age of 80. Her parents were Noall Z Tanner and Helen Ellison Adams Tanner. Stevan and Sheral were her older siblings.

Noleen was blessed to grow up with a large family around her. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all lived close and gathered together often for any occasion. She lived 98% of her life in Layton. First, at 406 W. Gentile where she grew up, and then moved next door to 418 W. Gentile where she spent the remainder of her life.

She had a special place in her heart for two of her cousins who were just younger than she was, Russell Anderson and Graig Shepherd Adams who both passed at young ages a year apart. This had a big impact on Noleen. She talked about them often and always carried their memories with her, her whole life.

Noleen married John Robert Bennett on July 5, 1975, and they remained together until his passing on December 30, 2020.

She got her Master of Social Work from the University of Utah in 1987. She worked for Weber County then went into private practice for several years.

She was incredibly artistic and had a lifelong love of ice skating and horseback riding, earning high awards for both. She also had a love for learning and spoke several languages. She loved all things sparkly and had a special place in her heart for all animals great and small. One cousin related that she has more personality in her little finger than most people have in their entire body.

Noleen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In the last years of her life, due to some awesome Relief Society sisters and missionaries, she worked on a personal goal of going through the Temple. On July 6, 2024, 2 days after turning 80, she met her goal and went through the new Layton Temple. She was very proud that she lived longer than any member of her immediate family.

Noleen is survived by her aunt Elaine Tanner, her brother-in-law Richard D Heninger, her nieces: Sherene (Mike, Sam, Joe), Sherese (Kevin, Ashley, Garrett), Kerri (Emily, Nolan), and nephews: Ed (Debbie, Rebecca), Zeke (Fanny, Vittoria, Francesca), Sanford (Amy, Jacob, Evan), and many cousins on both sides of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her sister-in-law Marilyn Holt Tanner and her nephew Zane Richard Heninger.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, at 275 Park Avenue, Layton, Utah, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 3:30 p.m.
