Nona Naomi Byington Hubbard
OGDEN, Utah a" On the morning of Monday, September 14, 2009, Nona Naomi Byington Hubbard, 82, passed peacefully from this earth after suffering complications from congestive heart failure. She had endured many years of ill health.
Nona was born August 13, 1927 in Downey, Idaho, the eighth of ten children born to Royal Elliot and Ethel Lovisa Christensen Byington. She attended schools in Downey and Grace, Idaho. After graduating from Grace High School, she received a certificate in business.
She met the love of her life, Orin Dale Hubbard, while still in high school. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 29, 1947. Dale passed away on February 12, 2004.
Nona and Dale lived a short time in Lago, Idaho; Logan, Utah; and Willets, California, finally making their home in Ogden for 58 years. One of their interests was growing and selling fruits, especially raspberries.
Nona loved children and provided loving child care throughout the years. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, reading, traveling, and watching the Utah Jazz, especially John Stockton. She was PTA President and sold Forever Living Aloe Vera products.
Nona was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in the nursery, Primary, Name Extraction program, and 34 years in the library.
Nona is survived by her son, Steven Dale (Tamara) Hubbard, Clinton; daughter, Lana K.H. Hall, Pleasant View; grandson, Elder Cameron Dale Hall (LDS Singapore Mission), granddaughter, Shanda Kaye Hall, Provo; step-granddaughter, Dr. Adrienne R. (Randy) Hahn, Artesia, NM; and step-grandsons, Branden J. Hall, Orem, UT; Dr. Clifton S. (Melissa) Hall, Austin, TX; Devon S. (Heather) Hall, Clinton, UT; and four step-great-grandchildren. Emily Sawyer (North Ogden) is her "adopted" granddaughter.
Also surviving are two brothers, Donald H. Byington, Logan; Vernon H. Byington, Idaho Falls, ID; and two sisters, Ruth (Gale) Christiansen, Chubbuck, ID; Lila (Ronald) Coburn, Brigham City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Dwain and Melvin, and sisters, Ruby John, Laurna Taylor, and Delda Munro.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at McKay-Dee Hospital Cardiology Department, IHC Hospice/Homecare nurses and aides, especially Megan, and Senior Companion, Bea.
