Norma Jean Ballantyne
Syracuse, UT- Our sweetheart, wife, mother and grandmother unexpectedly passed away from the complications of a stroke on April 19, 2014. At the time of her death she was surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born January 10, 1934 in Provo, Utah. She was the daughter of Clifford and Josephine Brereton Grange. She married Dale Ballantyne on April 4, 1953 in Ogden, Utah, and that marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on February 14, 1963. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church.
Norma was the mother of 6 children: Ken, Kathy, Gary, DeeAnn, David, and Steve. Family was the main focus of her life; she enjoyed all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She found fulfillment in serving others. She served in many church callings including serving a service mission at the Joseph Smith Building in the genealogy department. She along with her husband Dale served in the Bountiful Temple for 2 years and she was diligent in attending the temple until the duties of caring for her loving husband prevented her from continuing in that service.
She loved gardening and could grow anything, bringing many plants back to life with her green thumb. She loved making baby blankets, donating them to the LDS Humanitarian Aid and Welfare Services for distribution throughout the world.
Norma is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Dale Ballantyne, Ken (Karen) Ballantyne, Moab, UT; Kathy (David) Hales, Bloomington, IL; Gary (Cindy) Ballantyne, Bountiful, UT; DeeAnn (Bruce) Probst, Kaysville, UT; Scott (Michelle) Ballantyne, Layton, UT; Steve (Julie) Ballantyne, Farmington, UT; 26 Grandchildren and 27 Great-Grandchildren.
Norma is preceded in death by: Her parents, Clifford and Josephine Grange, Brothers: Samuel, and Dell Grange and her Grandson Brian Ballantyne.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse 3rd Ward, 2700 So. 1000 W., Syracuse. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
